Welcome to the New Year!

Yes as usual I am behind. I've been busy at home, busy at work and busy at rest. Tonight I'm taking the time to catch up on the last few months all in one fell swoop.

So for Christmas- Here are my favorite pics. Mom was here and we had a wonderful time. I cried when she left and am so happy that she came. I love her dearly and don't tell you nearly often enough.
These are the kids and Mom together.

And one just for the sake of it! (Read: What can I get into now?)

Dsc_00740006

Since then. We boy wonder has gotten a fairly clean bill of health. The cyst in his leg has not filled entirely but the fracture is entirely healed. So normal life for now with the exception of football and wrestling. We'll see how we've progressed at our next appt in April.

Boy Wonder also made his way out of braces last week as well. One down one to go!

So in the Sewing Room we picked up this neat little gadget after Christmas. Now I can get all fancy with my finishing of objects. (I've made one pair of pajama pants since then and you can see the pile that awaits.

One of the neatest things I received for Christmas though were knitting patterns from the 1940's that belonged to my Grandmother. There are quite a few things that I want to make from them. I am currently working on a pair of fingerless gloves adapted from this pattern. It is for a KAL on Ravelry.

Dsc_00830006

And speaking of KAL's on Ravelry- If you can get in- there is a Bones group from the show Bones on Fox.
If you're familiar with the show one of the characters wears crazy socks all of the time on the show. Come to find out he is a fan of the socks in real life too. There are a bunch in the group that are going to be knitting him socks and sending to his agent. Hopefully he'll wear them on the show in future seasons. (we can all dream now can't we? )
I'll be knitting him the BMP socks from SOCKPR0N They are on KNITTY in case anyone else wants to make them.

I have cast on for quite a few things since the beginning of the year. Nothing is screaming at me to knit it but I am plugging away at them all. I'll post the pics. Let me know if you want more details

I also finished this little lovely and finally took a picture tonight. I actually finished it at Christmas and added the pocket later. It's already a well worn and well loved piece of work.

Dsc_00790002

So that's it in a nutshell. I'm sure there's more and I'm sure I'll remember it at 2 in the morning and jump right up to let you know what it was.... Yeah right..... and after about 50 edits I still can't get the damn pictures to line up correctly. Argghh

Does your NC moon look like this?

This is my moon tonight. Look at the halo around the moon.

CS2008 1 DOWN 2 TO GO

The AV cabled pullover is finished!!!
I started this sweater 2 years ago and started to run out of yarn. I was worried that I couldn't get two full sleeves out of what I had left so I made the sweater short sleeved. This color is awful to photograph and it's even worse on a person in regards to showing the detail. I'm really happy with how this turned out though even with short sleeves. NOTE: My collar did not work out as it looks like in the pattern photo. It has more of a defined scoop to it. I guess I should have work up more on the cable.
Here are the finished pics.

So that leaves Derek's green sweater and Ashley's purple to have done by the end of the year.
I'm done with work starting Friday so it may just happen. Then again it may not.

Mom flies in on Saturday and there's lots of running around to do Friday. I finished most of the Christmas shopping today but there are still a couple of things to pick up. Including Christmas dinner! Steak and Lobster! YUM YUM YUM

Still breathing

So.. had a rotten cold. been knitting though just not finishing what i need to be finishing. or mailing or wrapping or buying.  so there will be more of not for a bit longer. then i'll post some pics. one good thing..4 more days of work, one tooth pulling and whatever else explodes before i'm off until the new year! and one more week til my mom gets here! can't wait!

CS2008 2 more FO's

I have finished the Cable Luxe Pullover and I love this sweater. The sport weight yarn made for a lightweight (read indoor wearable) sweater. The drape is great. hubby says it looks like a maternity sweater but it really doesn't. It has a bit of swing to it and will be something I can wear to work or with jeans. Done both already by the way! With it being woolease it goes from washer to dryer very nicely!  So here are the pictures.
Dsc_00320001

Dsc_00220001

The other FO is the sweater for my niece KaIty's Christmas present. This is really warm and soft at the same time. The colors are nice and bright just like she likes. I would actually love to make an adult version of this sweater but I'm thinking light blue and grey for the color work.
Any way, on with the pictures.
Dsc_00200002

In other news we had a lovely turkey day and a nice quiet weekend. No Black Friday for me. I did however get the Christmas tree put up and decorated. I have a few more outdoor decorations to do and I need to send off my Christmas cards. Shopping will be done in the next couple of weekends and then Mom will be here to celebrate the holidays with us!

In regards to CS2008 there are almost 30 members in the Ravelry group and everyone is working diligently on their projects it seems. I have 3 more to try and get off of the needles by the end of the year. We'll see how that goes. I am now plugging away at the Adrienne Vittadini cabled pullover. I have finished the 50 rows of ribbing that it required and am working on the cables. I messed up a row of cable at lunch today and now need to frog back a couple of rows but hopefully I'll get back on track tonight with it. I would like to have the front completed by the weekend and then get the sleeves done by the end of next week. We'll just have to see how that all goes though. I should be working on the other 3 that I have going but the ribbing is what got me to carry this thing around. Knowing I had 50 rows of mindless ribbing made it the perfect carry along project.

Well it's late and my children require dinner. Update on the son though- he is now brace free, going to physical therapy twice a week and in the last couple of days has quit using his walker and wheelchair. He still has a bit of a limp but has made great progress in a short period of time. He may start taking the bus next week again which means I won't be playing chauffeur to and from school any more. Slowly but surely we are getting back to normal around here.

One picture for you too. The kiddos at Halloween.

CS2008 Update

Over the weekend I finished up two more projects for CS2008 and cast on for one more. I know they weren't already WIP's but I eluded to them in my WIP list due to the fact that they are Christmas pressies and I needed to get them done. So I present to you....

A hat for nephew. Went down a needle size to have it fit him. It looks smaller in the picture than it is in real life.

Dsc_00160004_2

A vest for said nephew- went down a yarn thickness, needle size and up fit size for cast on and real size for length (hope that made sense)

Dsc_00150005

And from the Yarn Girls Guide to Knits for Older Kids

Dsc_00030001

The fronts are done. The back is ready for the armhole shaping.

Dsc_00170003

Dsc_00180002

Dsc_00190001

The pattern called for wool. While I love wool, my SIL has three kids. Two of which are still in diapers. She also has my brother, a full time job and enough laundry to do without having to worry whether or not she can wash what I make her kids. All items mentioned are machine washable and dryable.

The pink and green is two strands of Lionbrand Microspun. The yarn is splitty and I detest working with it with one strand. Two is nice and thick and soft and I could make a blanket and stay wrapped up in it all winter. I hope to have this sweater done by the end of the week. One of the sides has to be frogged back a bit and reworked. I screwed up a row of the slip stitch and while no one else can see it I'm sure, I CAN. It's bugging me and I'm going to fix it.

SO I'm off to feed children, finish some MORE laundry (I don't know about you but it never ends) and try and finish up the back.

C YA!

CS2008 Update

The hard part about posting is that I have to stop knitting to take pictures and think up something witty to say. Ok something to say never mind the witty.

So here is the update for last week.
1 FO
Dsc_00360001

And a helluva lot of progress on another.
Dsc_00020001

We have a three day weekend coming up and I'm really hoping that I can actually finish it! It's basically going to be bind off, weave in one end and wash and wear. This is woolease so I really can't see blocking it. Ok so shoot me. It will all work out in the wash. It seems to be kind of lopsided on Phyllis but it's just because I was in a hurry and trying to keep all of the stitches on the needles.

I also cast on for the front of the AV cabled pullover yesterday while at the orthodontist's office and have 15 out of 50 rows of ribbing done. In the car. no pics. not like it's worth taking a picture of 15 rows of ribbing in navy blue yarn. big blue blob....

so gotta go knit knit knit knit
