Wednesday 7/19

Sizzle is almost done. All I have left are the arm bands and neck band. It fits great though. I tried it on lat night after seaming her up. So hopefully some FO pics tomorrow! Friday we are off to the beach (me, 2 girlfriends and 6 kids). I am going to take some knitting with me but I don't know if any will get done. Maybe in the evenings but we'll see. I guess that's it for today.

Tuesday

I have no originality when it comes to post titles so it's Tuesday that's the title.

I am almost to the front split on Sizzle. I am back to square one on Mom's sweater. Mom I love you and I could never have given you the contraption that was created. One side hung lower than the other. The sleeves would have hit the floor on you. It was a creation made of love but if I gave it to you it would have been like I didn't love you at all. She is in nice little cakes sitting on my desk. I have found another pattern. Calling specifically for the yarn I bought. It wil require tweaking too I'm sure but I know in the end we will both be happier with the end result. So the journey begins again.

I leave you with pictures. Of some sewing gone too small, sweaters gone to the frog pond and one that may actually get finished this year. And also some pics of my queue of wants to knit.

Edited to clean this post up. It was allover the place.

Thursday

The back of Sizzle is done. I put her on stitch holders (yarn) this morning at 8 am-ish. Yes I was at work but ya know a girls gotta do...... I have finished 6 circles of two colors for my Christmas knitting bags. I am going to do one full bag and one half bag for each person. Now to find some zippers. Three are Carolina Blue and the three are NC State Red. I want to find some beads for each college to make stitch markers with. There is a silver jewelry store here in Raleigh that has college beads for necklaces and bracelets and such so I may try over there. It is July you know so I have a few days. he he he Hopefully I will cast on for the front of Sizzle tonight. We are going to the beach next weekend and I would like to have it done before that. I know, where's the pics. They are coming. Sooner or later......  Off to AC Moore tonight maybe I'll find some goodies....

Sizzle x3

As you may remember I picked up some Rowan Handknit cotton back in February for a song. 20 Skeins for 24 bucks. This yarn has been trying to be many things. Two of which have been frogged. And then there came Sizzle. I swatched cast on with the recommended needles for the medium. Guage too big. Frog... Cast for the next size down with the next size down needle. Bingo! We have guage. Cruising along and get to the decreases for the darts. I'm knitting in Annie Modesit's combination knitting method now and so the k2tog and ssk's have to be re-thought. In case you're wonering. For the k2tog just twist your stitches as if they were facing western and then k2tog just like you would have before you knew combination knitting. The ssk just k2tog as the stitches face. Let me  tell you though, seed stitch and CK don't go well together. You basically just have to work the stitches as they lay. But so any way my decreases were leaning the wrong way so FROG back to before decreasing.   Then I am 5 decreases in (I can't read a pattern in case you're wondering what the real problem is...) and through some wondering on my own and an email from Wendy herself I realize that I am doing the decreases on the wrong side of the stitch marker and my lovley darts are leaning to the left. FROG 30 rows. Back on track now though Baby! And happy to say that with the absence of 3 sick co-workers and 2 late ones I have completed 4 of the 7 decreases and am almost back to where I started. So the leaning was revealed by this photo when I took them at about 5 o'clock this morning. I guess YOU can't really see the issue in this photo but I could when I was taking the shot.

Dsc_0064 So I'm sure you're wondering why I was photographing knitting at 5 in the morming? Well I normally get up at 6 and last night when I was setting my alarm I happened to move the actual time forward about an hours and a half. Don't ask I have no clue. I was in a sewing stupor at 10 (more on that later) and was having dexterity vs the button problems.

So my 6 o'clock start this morning was actually 4:30 am. I came to this realization after I had already showered and dressed and pretty much about walking out the door. (well before walking out the door or I wouldn't have had taken the time to take the pictures. But since I was ready I left and went to work anyway. Peace and quiet for and hour and a half. But here are the rest of the pictures I took this morning for your viewing pleasure... OK the blanket is for my nephew/neice to be...... single crochet crab stitch border, Mom's sweater sans button and neck bands. Twist sans one sleeve and some seaming. FBS soon to be Seraphim for a Christmas gift. The Krista Tee from White Lies Designs. and one goofy pick of me. There are more but here I am. I thought i might use this one to update the side bar pic as my hair has grwon quite a bit since then.  Well Happy Monday to everyone and hopefully a later start to Tuesday for me! Oh yeah- and htepic of the skirt is hte one I did last night. I have made skirts from this pattern three times now and have one more ready to be pinned, cut and sewed. A couple are knee length. This one just happens to be the long one. The pattern is New Look 6345. I've made view C E & F and another F is on the way. For the view F I did not add the tabs on the sides. 6345
