Is bloglines freaking out on anyone else. It keeps putting up the same posts again and again and again. arrrggghhhhh
I can't believe it's been over a month since I last posted. There has been so much going on.
Some girlfriends and I took our 6 kids to Myrtle Beach for a long weekend. It was crazy but it was fun.
At the beginning of the month hubby and I went to Virginia and rode almost 50 miles between Abingdon and Damascus VA. This is the Creeper trail and was a great ride although I was pretty much wanting to die at the end.
There has been a lot of Stash enhancing and knitting going on around here too. No pictures cause I can't seem to drag my butt to the closet to get out the camera. But I finished the long cabled coat. It is so warm. I did not do the ribbing as called for on the cuffs and I cut 5 inches off of the length. The sleeves are now sort of bell shaped since there is no ribbing to draw them in.
As you may recall I frogged Mom's sweater. It is going to be this now for DH. It's the hooded knit sweater out of the Homespun. He likes the fabric and it's a pretty quick knit even though the yarn catches all over the place. I put that off though to work on this.
I am working on this now. I have finished the back and two sleeves and hope to have the front finished this evening. It's in black so it's a worthless photo waiting to be taken. I made some huge revisions to this sweater. It calls for two strands of bulky yarn on size 15 needles. Quick knit yes. Too damn thick to wear you betcha. I reverted to one strand on size 11 needles, the xl numbers and medium length measurments. It's coming out pretty good.
I am making it out of Devon yarns MAX which is 90% wool and 10% Alpaca. It is so soft I can't wait til it's cool enough to wear it. I got the yarn a couple of weeks ago when my LYS was having a sale. 30 balls of that for 30 bucks, plus some cotton to make Saunielle's Scatter and some DK weight for the kiddos for Christmas knitting. I also picked up enough of the Plymouth Encore Chunky to work up Mom's cardigan. It's 75% acrylic and 25% wool so I think it would be ok for her. It's their oatmeal color which is what she is wanting.
Yesterday I ordered the yarn for this.
So in other news. I have signed up for the international scarf exchange and should be getting my scarf person in early September. the kiddos are getting braces. I have had an intense week of firewall training that I hope to be able to use soon. My mom is moving to Colorado any minute now and Dani my last SP is moving to Charlotte in October! I am stoked to get to meet her in person soon. I ran into Nik of Nik's knits at AC Moore awhile back. Too weird but it was cool! And that is the update for now. I'm sure there is more and yes I know I need to post more. School starts Friday and hubby goes back to work after a 3 month medical leave on Monday so maybe things will slow down tremendously soon and I can squeeze in some more knitting um blogging time on a more regular basis.
